New store openings require a proficiency in organizational, communication, and leadership skills. As a Visual Lead at store openings, one must study entire department category assortments and be familiar with products and their end-use. Product must be displayed in an on-brand fashion that makes sense to the consumer. Floorplans and fixture packages are studied in detail and an execution plan is built.
New staff and contractors are trained on merchandising skills while following the implementation plan in order to be as efficient as possible and to teach merchandising skills for future merchandising. Direct communication and clear direction are essential skills of a visual lead. Being able to manage multiple projects and staff at the same time is necessary. It is a lot of hard work, but the reward is priceless; building immaculate departments and building relationships with new and old colleagues.
